Laura has been a nurse her entire adult life. “I don’t recall a time in my life that did not involve taking care of people.” Her nursing career began at Ochsner Hospital where she worked with patients in perioperative and critical care for nearly 20 years. In 2001 Laura switched her focus to the treatment of obesity and obesity-related chronic illnesses. She has developed a true passion for improving the quality of life for individuals who suffer from chronic diseases. Over the past 17 years she has earned a plethora of awards as well as much respect from the bariatric community.
Laura served on the executive board of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and is a past president of the Integrated Health section of the ASMBS. She has also served in many conference faculty and committee roles in the organization. She has been an active member of the American College of Surgeons Bariatric Surgery Quality Improvement Committee, the integrated health column editor for Bariatric Times and is currently on the editorial advisory board for the Bariatric Times.
At Galleria Wellness, Laura’s focus is on hormone treatment and anti-aging medicine and nutrition to combat the effects of aging for both women and men. She utilizes the most current understanding of traditional and functional medicine to improve the quality of life for individuals with various conditions and in all stages of life. Laura’s years of experience and her passion for health and wellness is helping patients experience renewed energy, manage healthy weight, prevent illness and regain vitality.
